“Grateful is our mindset”

What does having a grateful mindset actually mean? Have you ever thought about it? Well, of course being grateful means focusing on what you have instead of what you don’t have. This is a great place to start, which is why I always remind people to write down 5 things they are grateful for every day.

An additional thing that being grateful all the time means is that, when you are grateful, you focus on the positive things more than the negative things. I am no expert but I can tell you that most of the successful people I know or have met have one thing in common. That one thing is a positive attitude. Very few negative people end up being successful in life and, even if they do find success, it usually doesn’t last long since their negativity will find a way to see it as a bad thing instead of a good thing.

The ultimate reason to be grateful and be positive is because that is what it takes to be successful and change the world! Here are a few people who kept on going no matter what and that was because they were grateful and had a positive attitude.

Thomas Edison: He failed at creating the light bulb about 1,000 times before actually accomplishing it. Do you think a negative person would have kept going? Colonel Sanders (the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken) was in his 60s before he found success and opened his first restaurant, only being grateful would help you keep going at age 60 I believe.

Michael Jordan: Before becoming the best basketball player of his time, he was actually cut from his high school basketball team. He also missed in his career way more game-winning shots than he made, yet we only remember the ones that went in. What kept him going? Gratitude and a positive attitude.

One more example! Jack Fallon: You might know the story of the success of TLC over the last 10 years, but the first 10 were totally different. It started as a dream, then an idea, and then he made a decision to go for it. Year after year, he tried and tried and tried. Things just were not happening. Sales were low and even when they picked up they would soon go back down. He took out multiple loans to keep things going and there were many sleepless nights while working a full-time job in addition to building the dream.

Everyone around him, including his family, told him to give up. They all said he was crazy, they all said he was stupid. I was even one of the naysayers for a while. Despite all of the negativity and the chatter around him, he kept going. Jack Fallon never gave up, he remained positive and was always grateful for even one sale or one new relationship.

Then finally after 10 years of hard work, no monetary rewards, and a constant reminder from loved ones and friends to quit, there was some traction. Things picked up slowly at first and then they just took off and the rest is history. The story had a happy ending, just like the other ones I listed above, but if it were not for Jack’s grateful mindset and positive attitude I would not be sitting here writing this message today.

I thank him for never giving up, never listening to everyone that wanted him to quit, and for paving the way for me and my family and so many others to be blessed. Now it’s my turn to be grateful and have a positive attitude so I can accomplish some things that can bless other people even though many tell me to quit or remind me that it won’t work. It’s your turn too! If you have big dreams, big goals and a big heart you must keep going!

If you have a grateful mindset and a positive attitude I have no doubt that you will succeed and I know you will change the world. How about we change the world together? I could surely use some help and some grateful mindsets!

We can start by having a positive attitude today and every day and smiling every time we fail because we know we are one day closer to success!

Thank you for reading and thank you, Jack Fallon, for never giving up! You are like Thomas Edison, Michael Jordan, Colonel Sanders, and all the other great examples of perseverance to us. Let us go do what they said we can’t!
